LILLIPUT

Lilliput 669GL

CARPUTER uses the Lilliput high-brightness multi-touch capacitive monitor because of compatibility and quality reasons. This is not the only display option.

Most HDMI, DVI, and VGA monitors will work successfully with CARPUTER. While CARPUTER is designed to work best with a touch screen, regular LCDs are usable, but the Rii Wireless Keyboard will be required. Each CARPUTER ships with a wireless keyboard, so this is not an issue.

If you plan on using a different monitor than the included Lilliput 669GL, please contact us. We want to make sure you are choosing a monitor that will work seamlessly with CARPUTER.

When configuring CARPUTER on our website, you can eliminate the 669GL option from the package, significantly reducing the price. CARPUTER is not usable without a monitor, so in the event that you order a unit without the Lilliput 669GL, we will assume you have made plans to use a different monitor. Please be advised that you will be responsible for installing drivers for the display of your choice. When purchasing the unit with the included Lilliput 669GL, all drivers are provided for you.

How can I output sound to my amplifier?

CARPUTER features three 3.5mm TRS audio jacks as well as an optical output, allowing up to 7.1 surround sound audio. This is the preferred way to output sound. If your amplifier does not have an optical input, then 3.5mm TRS to RCA adapters are required. If you are in need of such an adapter, please contact us and we will advise you.

Will my CARPUTER get hot?

CARPUTER can operate comfortable in extremely hot climates. CARPUTER uses an Intel Core i3 processor with 35W TDP, and the CARPUTER case is designed to handle up to 60W TDP. In addition, the case has adequate ventilation, and we have implemented multiple fans to assist with cooling. CARPUTER uses a solid state disk for data storage, which has no moving parts, so it does not generate anywhere near as much heat as a hard drive.

We recommend that CARPUTER be installed in a location where it can have at least 3 inches of space on each side, but beyond this, there are no special precautions needed. We have tested the unit in extreme heat for several days without any rise in operational temperature.

Can I use a different monitor?

CARPUTER supports most monitors with HDMI, DVI, or VGA inputs. The product also features multiple-monitor support, but since each setup is unique, we ask that you contact us with your requirements prior to purchase. While we can guide you in the correct direction, we cannot warrant the use of any monitor purchased from a third-party. For most installations, we recommend the use of the Lilliput multi-touch monitor in a double-DIN frame that ships with CARPUTER.

What are safe operating temperatures?

Our newest model of CARPUTER has an operating temperature range of 32°F to 140°F, and our storage temperature range is -5°F to 158°F. Storing CARPUTER outside of this range will void your warranty.

Where in my vehicle should I install CARPUTER?

Common places for installation of the unit are underneath a seat and in the trunk of your vehicle. The case is small and lightweight, so there are also many other options available as well. We recommend installation in an area that is accessible by hand, so cables can be changed, but this is entirely up to the installer.

The monitor is typically positioned in-dash, but external monitors are also common on buses, limousines, and vehicles incompatible with in-dash installations. However, the proper installation method is decided by your installer. Depending on the location of the unit and the size of the vehicle, extension cables may be required. Please consider this when purchasing CARPUTER. We offer a variety of extension cables for your convenience.

How does the unit power on?

CARPUTER features an automotive power supply that is specifically designed to detect ignition of your vehicle, which triggers power to the CARPUTER. This is how the unit is shipped to you. When the vehicle is turned off, the power supply senses this as well, and safely shuts down the CARPUTER.

Installation diagrams are provided to your installer to show how the power harness is connected to the vehicle. The unit is shipped from our warehouse ready to be installed into an automotive environment, so there is no need for additional configuration by your installer.

Can I use xyz accessory with CARPUTER?

We do not provide support, or warrant the use of any accessory that is not currently for sale on our website. This is not to say that the accessory is not compatible, but we cannot help with support issues. You will need to contact the reseller or manufacturer of that accessory directly to assist with any defects you may encounter. In addition, if such an accessory is deemed to cause damage to CARPUTER, this will immediately void the warranty.
